From Drab to Dramatic

This Maplewood homeowner's front entry went from drab to dramatic with the addition of a ground level patio using Willow Creek Cobblestone paving stones, a VERSA-LOK Retaining Wall Systems seat wall and a matching single course of pavers as a tidy garden border. With overgrown plants in the front and the space virtually unusable, the home owners wanted a living space with plenty of room for outdoor furnishings such as the movable fire table or a table and chairs. The perimeter seat wall gives the area a cozy "front porch" ambience.

No need to escape to the woods!

An investment to last a lifetime!

A half-circle garden adds a graceful transition to the driveway from the patio area.

Updating the front walkway adds miles of curb appeal from front door to driveway. The graceful walkway, using Willow Creek Cobblestone Lakeshore Blend pavers, looks stunning with the Prairie Tan border as well as the arched window. The VERSA-LOK retaining wall in Chestnut Blend creates additional interest with a tiered garden and plantings. Extra outdoor living space for seating, grilling or whatever you desire, is achieved with a wider patio area within the walkway.

Permeable Pavers Saved this Family's Dream of a New Patio

When homeowners in Falcon Heights wanted to add an outdoor patio between a driveway and their home, they discovered that their plans would exceed the city's limit on impermeable surfaces.

Limits on impervious surfaces are not uncommon. Each municipality in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area must file an annual report of its stormwater management practices as required by Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.

The homeowners decided that permeable pavers would be an environmentally friendly solution that would meet the city's impervious footprint limit. They selected Willow Creek Brickstone Permeable and Aqua-Loc pavers.

The new outdoor space includes a dining area, firepit patio surrounded by a VERSA-LOK seat wall, and steps that connect the patio to a sliding door and a side entrance. The combination of two styles of permeable paver lends the outdoor space a unique appearance, while meeting regulations that limit impermeable surfaces on residential property. This beautiful patio uses a combination of Brickstone Permeable and Aqua-Loc pavers.

Dedicated dining space brightens up back yard

The lack of a dedicated outdoor dining area and deteriorating wooden steps prompted this homeowner in Richfield to update the back entrance. Villa Landscapes used the durable Versa-Lok® pedestal stack steps, capped with Willow Creek Slatestone in Bleu for the landing, and added contrasting treads and borders. The steps flow easily to both the new patio and the existing sidewalk, while the elevated patio defines the space for small gatherings. The homeowner plans a second project that will include a grill island niche between the Slatestone patio and the home's wing wall.

Home's entrance made welcoming and safer with same level patio, sidewalk

This homeowner in Eden Prairie wanted to freshen up the home's entrance, widen the walkway and make it one level. By removing an extra step and creating a patio with the new entrance, Villa created a multi-purpose and visually stunning feature to the home. The homeowner can use the extra space of the patio for entertaining and for access when it is needed. Which product? Villa also selected appropriately sized greenery to open up the entry, rock and bark mulch for variety, contrasting soldier and sailor paver courses in charcoal to define the walkway and landscaped areas, and a retaining wall planter to define the exterior. The result is an extraordinary entrance that is both multi-functional and welcoming and ultimately a safer entrance. Homeowner wanted to freshen up the home's entrance, widen the walkway and make it one level.
